About Us

MarketPlaceBC is the result of work that began in 2005 with the mitigation strategy work from the Cariboo-Chilcotin Beetle Action Coalition (CCBAC), and a feasibility study commissioned by the District of 100 Mile House. Through regional consultation producers recommended that a web-based tool to maximize economic and research opportunities was needed. Regional and provincial partnerships were formed to expedite the creation of MarketPlaceBC, a tool for those interested in local agriculture. MarketPlaceBC will continue to be managed through the North Cariboo to advance local food production.

Communities in the Cariboo-Chilcotin are challenged by the Mountain Pine Beetle epidemic. In response to this significant challenge the Cariboo-Chilcotin Beetle Action Coalition (CCBAC) has come together to work with governments, groups and individuals to help ensure that these communities not only survive but prosper, during and after the epidemic. CCBAC believes it is essential to bring together natural resource managers and economic development expertise to minimize the potential economic impacts of the beetle epidemic, and to make the best of the ensuing opportunities.
