I was injured at the age of 21 in a mill I was working at in town to save for Beauty school at Blanche MacDonald. When my life took a turn in a different direction. My beauty school adventure was put on hold while I went through surgery after surgery to recover (16 total). When it was time to be re-trained WCB figured Medical office assistant was the answer. I jumped through all the hoops and graduated in 2015, but still found I wanted to attend beauty school even with my new hand limitations.
Since graduating in 2016 in Esthetics & Nails I’ve upgraded in advanced training in foot care, Variety of massage therapy modalities, medical aesthetics, biomechanics & diabetes/geriatric care.
Having gone through many obstacles with a new disability & not allowing it to define who I am or what I can or cannot accomplish. Along the way you will come across many that try to tear you down & define your limitations for you. This will only show you what others limitations are and not your own. If you want something bad enough you will find a way to accomplish it despite what others believe. Just because I was classified on paper disabled doesn’t mean I had to give into it. Through hard work, passion for learning/growing & extra time to modify techniques that did not work with my new reality has brought me to a career that I love. Helping others heal, manage pain or become more confident with themselves in their body for overall health & wellness.
