Going to the landfill and in turn feeding our communities
Food-It-Forward Okanagan rescues consumable food from going to the landfill reducing food waste.
We address food insecurity by handing the food back out into the community by public access, partnerships with local organizations and dropping directly to buildings with severe food insecurity.
We are completely volunteer run, about 20 volunteers.
I am a 3rd generation Mètis woman, who grew up in and around reservations and up north my entire childhood. Suffering from food insecurity and lack of access.
We are in growing stage from a grass roots organization into a corporation so that we may apply for federal charity status.
The plate setting is made out of beads to represent us together as a community, empty plate that we fill. Both physically and mentally.
