In December ​1992 O. Musi wrote in Drum magazine: “The hurly-burly razzmatazz that was the life in townships like Sophiatown, better known as ‘Kofifi’.”

​Townships in early 20th century South Africa had their own distinct feel and lifestyles, but none was more famous than Sophiatown, or Kofifi, as it was affectionately known. Despite the violence and poverty, it was the epicentre of politics, jazz and blues during the 1940s and 1950s. The “Kofifi” style emerged from these times – with its sheer exuberance, unique rhythm and style that outstrips oppression it’s beautiful!

Through a passion for colour, for funky and fun approaches to refurbing furnishings, interior decor and those finishing pieces, home staging and artworks the spirit of KOFIFI flows…here we refinish and refurbish tired, old furniture pieces and bring a brand new life to home and office spaces through the revamp of furnishings with functional furniture art.
