Free: 12 questions to ask your loved ones
Valid -One of my big realizations has been that my parents won’t be here forever, which perhaps sounds obvious, but is a really hard truth. So this year when my dad starts telling a story about ‘before you were born,’ instead of rolling my eyes like I did when I was a teenager, I’m literally taking notes.I thought I’d share with you a list of questions that might get the conversation going with your parents and elders so you can, in a small way, preserve their stories for the future.
Redeem OfferNextGen Story is about helping families capture the stories of their loved ones.
This work began when I helped my grandmother publish her memoirs. She had typewritten stories & old albums of photos: I worked with her to type, scan, organize, edit, design and eventually print it as a ‘real book’ – which she was so proud of. I’ve always dreamed that I could do the same for others.
I am a former high school teacher with a background working in university, non-profit, and philanthropic settings. I’m a family historian, facilitator, and certified Guided Autobiography instructor. I hold a B.A. (UBC), B.Ed. (SFU). My M.A. was in Adult Learning and Education at UBC.
I work with individuals and families to create exquisite custom books and maps. You can start with a box of photos from your attic and end with a beautiful, engaging piece that will last for generations to come.
