In 2020, I had a neck injury immediately prior to a pandemic.
It proceeded four years of disenfranchisement and trauma, and a completely life-altering Autism and ADHD diagnosis. Photography is one of my multidisciplinary pursuits, that helped keep my mind as healthy as I could through it all. I stated with a ten year old crop-sensor Canon Rebel, then invested in myself on my Forty-third birthday, and bought myself a 5D Mkiii. I haven’t looked back since, and wow, has the road been tumultuous to get here.
Here is putting my art, and along with it my voice and mind, into the world – to be seen and heard. As a marginalized Artist, it has been a lifetime of struggle to overcome so many barriers and obstacles, and I am grateful that as the sTudio approaches it’s one year anniversary, that I get to spend my Life this way. Every day I am able. Every day I have breath, and my Body doesn’t betray me after a lifetime of insufficient medical care. Simply because the beauty and truth I interact with daily makes my Spirit feel entirely Alive, full of Joy, and connected to a greater story beyond my own.
It is these emotions I desire to share with the world through my images.
The woods are my sanctuary. My holy place. My place of worship, where humility often reminds me of powers far greater than my own at work in the Universe. Labouring in so many ways to make Life a possibility on this Planet. The wonder and awe of it all draws me deeper into spaces I have yet to know, and beyond my fears of them and their Inhabitants. I invite you to come along with me, beyond the veil of make believe and artificial reality, and into the wild places that call to me. May my lens be your portal to my reality, and into the stories of each Soul immortalized through my art. May you find peace and understanding here.
